De Faculteit Kunstgeschiedenis van de Universiteit van Glasgow (Schotland) organiseert op 30 mei 2009 een interdisciplinair congres rond het thema Arts to Enchant: Formations of Fantasy in Visual Culture. Sprekers belichten de rol van fantasie in visuele cultuur, niet alleen als creatieve impuls, maar ook als essentiele artistieke uitlaatklep voor angsten, verlangens en vlagen van irrationaliteit. De besproken media beperken zich niet tot de traditionele kunsten, maar omvatten ook film en animatie, mode, theater, strips en science fiction. Genoemde thema's zijn: 'Fetish/Goth, Fairy tales & Mythology, Dreams/Nightmares, Theoretical ideological and psychoanalytical Fantasy, Aesthetics of Fantasy, Black/White Magic, Performance/Masquerade, Monsters/Monstrosities, The Surreal/The Uncanny, Erotica/Eroticism'.Tot 13 maart kunnen voorstellen voor presentaties worden ingezonden.
